Edit Mode & the Photo Gallery

Curate exactly which photos appear in your slideshow

What is Edit Mode?

Edit Mode lets you go through your photos one by one and decide whether each one should appear in your slideshow. Any photo you reject is hidden immediately and will not come up again - without you having to delete or move it in your cloud storage.

Rejections are stored per device, so the TV in the sitting room can show a curated selection while a tablet in the bedroom shows everything. You can undo any rejection at any time using the Photo Gallery.

Navigating through your photos

The navigation bar at the top of the screen gives you full control over which photo you are looking at:

  • |< First - jump directly to the first photo in the queue.
  • < Prev - go back one photo.
  • Next > - move forward one photo.
  • Last >| - jump directly to the last photo in the queue.

A counter in the centre of the navigation bar shows your current position (e.g. 42 / 318). The First and Prev buttons are disabled when you are on the first photo; Next and Last are disabled when you are on the last photo.

Keeping and rejecting photos

Two large buttons sit at the bottom of the screen for each photo:

✕ Reject

Hides this photo from the slideshow on this device. The slideshow automatically advances to the next photo. The photo is not deleted from your cloud storage.

✓ Keep

Marks this photo as explicitly kept and moves on to the next one. This is the default state for all new photos - you only need to tap Keep if you want to un-reject a photo you have already rejected.

After tapping Reject or Keep, the frame automatically advances to the next photo so you can work through your collection without extra taps.

The Photo Gallery

The View Rejected button in the Edit Mode navigation bar opens the Photo Gallery - a full-screen grid showing every photo you have rejected on this device.

From the gallery you can:

  • Tap any photo to open it full-screen and choose to restore it to the slideshow. The photo is removed from the rejected list immediately.
  • Restore All - the button in the top-right corner of the gallery restores every rejected photo at once, returning your slideshow to its full unfiltered state on this device.
  • Toggle between Rejected and All Photos to browse your full photo queue alongside the rejected ones.

Tap ← Back to Edit at the top of the gallery to return to Edit Mode without losing your place.

Tips
  • Rejections are per-device. The same photo can be kept on one frame and rejected on another.
  • Rejected photos are not deleted from your cloud album - they are only hidden locally on this device.
  • You can restore any photo at any time through the Photo Gallery.
  • New photos added to your cloud album after you have done a curation pass will appear as kept by default.
  • Edit Mode works across all your photo sources - you can reject photos from OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, and Google Photos all in the same session.
